There are many colleges offering Aircraft
Maintenance Engineering course. Different colleges have different
admission criteria, but the per-requisite qualification is mostly the
same. Yet the candidates are advised to check the admission criteria of
the colleges they are applying to.Eligibility for the AME course is 10+2
with 60% marks in physics, chemistry and mathematics.
The
candidate completing AME cannot be considered as a graduate because
this is not a graduate course.It is a license course or a professional
course. Those who want to become a graduate in this discipline may opt
for an Aeronautical Engineering course. Those who complete
B.E./B.Tech.in Aeronautical Engineering cannot be considered for issuing
an AME license until they pass the test for issuing license. After
obtaining the license only then can they enroll themselves as Aircraft

On successful completion of the AME course, a license is issued by the competent authority giving the candidate the right to undertake all kinds of maintenance works of aircraft. The license is highly valued and the aircraft maintenance engineer is fully in charge of making the aircraft ready and safe to fly.The flight cannot take off without the approval of an AME. Thus,the AME has the right and the responsibility to make the flight OK by testing and checking all essential components of an aircraft for smooth functioning.
